Early in my career I was proud to work with the great Spike Lee as his Digital Effects Producer for his 2000 satirical black comedy-drama about a modern day minstrel show starring Damon Wayans, Jada Pinkett Smith, Savion Glover, Tommy Davidson, and Michael Rapaport. This was the first of three collaborations with Spike, culminating in Executive Producing ‘You’re Nobody ’til Somebody Kills You’ together in 2012.
At the height of the indie film scene in NYC, Bamboozled was technically significant film having been shot on mini-DV combined with a great deal of animation and visual effects – for which I oversaw 44 shots.
In 2023, the film was selected for preservation within the United States Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being “culturally, historically, and aesthetically” significant.
